A colorful salad or dessert for Valentines Day or Christmas.

 4-6 medium tart apples
 1 cup (8 oz) red hot candies
 3 tbsp Sugar
 1 cup Boiling water

Peel and core apples. (you can leave them whole or cut in half)
Add cinnamon candies and sugar to boiling water. Keep on low heat, stirring until candy is dissolved. Pour mixture over apples.
Bake at 400 degrees for 25-30 minutes, basting several times with the syrup in the baking dish. (To give apples a brighter color, keep in syrup 3-4 hours after removing from oven.)
Serve apples cold with whipped cream and mint leaves for decoration.
Optional: Serve hot, with a scoop of ice cream. Drizzle warm syrup over the top.
