The perfect mashed potatoes if you want something easy you could assemble a day or two ahead and refrigerate, then pop them in the oven.

5 lbs Peeled, quartered russet potatoes
½ cup butter
1 cup half and half
8 oz whipped cream cheese
1 pinch salt and pepper
¼ tsp nutmeg
¼ tsp garlic powder
chives for garnish ( optional )

Place potatoes in a large pot and add enough water to cover. Add salt and bring to a boil. lower heat then simmer for 15 - 20 min until potatoes are tender.

Mash potatoes with hand mixer then add butter, half and half, cream cheese, salt and pepper, nutmeg and garlic powder. Beat potatoes on medium high speed until very smooth. Butter 2 quart baking dish and spoon potatoes evenly into dish

Bake 350 degrees for 45 min. let stand for 15 minutes and garnish with chives.
