
Pour boiling water over oats. Let stand 20 minutes. Cream sugars, shortening and eggs. Add oatmeal mixture. Blend together. Add flour, spices and vanilla. Mix well. Bake in a 9x13 cake pan 40-50 minutes at 350 degrees.
1 cup white sugar
3 egg yolks
1 cup evaporated milk
1/4 pound butter
1tsp vanilla
Cook until thick, stirring constantly so it won’t stick to pan.
1 cup pecans
1 cup coconut
Add to topping. Spread mixture on cake.
